June 2, 2010
Wheat, canola and other crops that may have already emerged in local crops were feeling chilly after more snow fell on the weekend. The picture was taken in a field on Saturday, north west of town. Other spring farming operations (above) were put on hold until dry conditions return to the land. According to the local weather map (in every The Provost News edition), more showers and cloudy weather can be expected this week. ©Provost News Photos.

Soggy Weather Stops Rodeo, Car Show
Soggy weather comprised of snow and rain over the weekend meant the cancellation of at least three outdoor events in the area.

The annual Cadogan Stampede and Provost’s Border Cruizers car show and a flea market planned for the museum grounds were stopped because of the weather.

President of the Cadogan stampede committee Raven Dzurko told The Provost News that they will “run again this year come rain or shine.”

The group is looking for a weekend in July to re-schedule the stampede.

This is the first time that the Cadogan rodeo has been stopped because of the weather as far as she knew added Dzurko.

The decision to stop the event from going ahead was made on Saturday morning, May 29 at 8 a.m. The Saturday night dance was also cancelled.

Board member for the Provost and District Museum, Bob Paulgaard said on Monday that the car show planned for May 29 probably won’t be re-booked this summer. No cars showed up he added.
