Putting the Feelers Out for Spring
 |
This honey bee seems to check if it’s spring yet as it pokes its head out the entrance (roughly 3/8 inches tall by under 2 inches wide) of a beehive east of town in the M.D. of Provost No. 52 on Monday afternoon, March 3. There were no flowers to be seen and the creature soon determined it was just too cool out as it crawled back inside among buzzing peers. A different insect took its chances flying and zooming right out of the shelter — but it’s questionable if it was a one-way trip during the zero degree C weather or if it made the return flight home. ©Provost News Photo. |
