“Fairly Rare” Birds Spotted

Reflections of these Black Necked Stilt birds can be seen in a slough a few hundred yards west of Dave Fraser’s property, near Hansman Lake. Brian Acton spotted the birds while travelling on Range Road 42 and told The News that one of the birds had been “down the shore a bit, sitting on a nest.” Acton has read that they are “fairly rare” in Alberta. He drove by again on Friday morning, June 25 and saw four of the pink-legged birds. Photo submitted.
