Fresh Fruit

A large male raven isn’t waiting for thanksgiving festivities, but gets its reward early after working to pull ripe berries from a mountain ash tree in early October. The fruit is a favourite of many birds and is an important source of nutrition during cold weather. Ravens have been found to mimic the call of other kinds of birds and if raised in captivity they can even imitate human words. This bird’s mate was seen flying nearby. ©Provost News Photo.
