Heavy Work

Workers (left and right) pull back with a beam of wood smoothing out heavy, freshly poured concrete while others behind spread the material on August 21. The work is being done to build a new basketball court on Provost Public School’s west playground (see PN August 21). PPS’s new principal Jody Cook told The News August 26 that the new court will “give students more opportunity for physical activity. The basketball court we have on the east side of the school is used regularly.” Cook says the majority of the new court is being paid for by PPS school council and the remainder is to be paid for by the school. She estimates the court will be approximately $15,000. ©Provost News Photo.
