Second Place For The Provost News in National Photo Competition
The Provost News has won second place for a photograph that it entered in the 2014 Canadian Community Newspaper Awards competition.

Newspapers Canada announced in Toronto recently the winners of a variety of annual awards.

The Best News Feature Photo entry by The News was titled “Stretching Out the Workday” that ran in the September 18, 2013 front page and part of the back page (approximately 20 inches wide and eight and one half inches tall).
It featured a September 11 wheat harvest operation three kilometres north of Provost at dusk with trucker Cole Angeltvedt jumping off the combine that his father Ron Angeltvedt was operating. The photo was taken by Rich Holmes.
First place in this category (circulation up to 3,999) was Rebecca Aldous of The Chief, from Squamish, B.C. while third place went to Rob Perry of the Aylmer Express, Aylmer, Ontario.

“This prestigious annual awards program features over 30 unique categories honouring outstanding editorial, photography, multimedia and overall excellence in community newspaper publishing. The 2014 competition saw 273 publications from coast to coast to coast submit 2,688 entries representing their best work from 2013” according to the Canadian Community Newspapers Association.
