Town Building Permits Over $5 Million So Far in 02
Building permits issued by the Town of Provost show that the value of construction for the first nine months of 2002 beats out the entire years of 2001, 2000 and 1999 combined.

From January to the end of September 2002 permits show construction valued at $5,104,806 while the previous three years together totalled $4,210,082.

Of the 22 permits so far in 2002, 14 were issued for residential which included six new houses, renovations, garages and other projects. Total: $1.18 million.

As well there were three commercial projects comprised of A & W, Cazes’ Gift and Provost Car and Truck Wash worth a total of $395,000.

There were two industrial projects for building permits issued for accessory buildings at NorAlta Controls Ltd. and Winterhawk Enterprises Ltd. reports the town.

Three institutional projects worth $3.5 million include renovations at Provost Public School, renovations at the Provost Health Centre and an elevator installation at St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church.

Of the 19 permits issued in 2001, seven were issued for residential which included one new house and other renovations, garages and other projects. Total: $121,000.

Also in 2001 there were four commercial projects comprising a project for Gregory Funeral Homes, Top 20 building and repairs to the McNalley building for $624,000. There were four industrial projects comprised of LDW Storage, Cactus Lake Electric and an addition for Leachman Enterprises as well as Winterhawk Enterprises Ltd.’s shop and accessory building— worth a total of $440,000 for that year.

Two institutional projects worth a total $30,000 for the Provost Community Church and a sign for Provost Public School also took place during 2001 while the town hall (community) demolition and rebuilding was valued at $500,000.

Crews have been working on certain streets in Provost getting them in shape for paving that is expected yet this fall.
