Swimming with Close Relatives

A tundra swan (identified by a yellow marking on the bill next to the eye) shakes off excess water while wading near dry land. It was among mostly geese (partially shown at back) which are considered a close relative to the bird. Swans are protected under the federal Migratory Birds Convention Act. ©Provost News Photo.
