Pump Jack Moved to Museum
|
This donated oilfield pump jack is hoisted off a flat-bed after being transported to its new site at the Provost and District Museum on October 23, as pictured by John Rennie of Hayter. This ‘vintage’ piece of machinery was manufactured by Vulcan SA in Romania where these sucker rod surface pumping units for oil extraction have been made since 1978, Carol Landmark told The News. It was moved to the oilfield site about 25 kms south of Provost in the early 1990s and was in use until recently, she says. These units are designed to pump up to 42,700 lbs.
