Hanging On
|
During a race, this athlete manages to hang onto his goggles after a malfunction — likely happening almost immediately after making a backstroke start from the blocks at the deep end of the pool during the Provost Piranhas invitational swim meet on Saturday, June 24. While it can be a nuisance for swimmers when eye wear leaks, flips down or breaks — the competition must go on without stopping to fix it or risk disqualification as officials watch carefully from on deck for proper strokes and turns. Also taking in the meet were the Camrose Sea Serpents, Edmonton Derrick Devil-Rays, Edmonton Huma, Ft. Sask. Piranhas, Lloydminster Rebels, Sherwood Park Millennium Marlins, Vermilion Vipers, Wainwright Torpedoes and Wetaskiwin Olympians.
