Cool Activity

Taking the plunge into a big tub of cold water for a ‘polar dip’ are five members of the Provost Kinsmen in flamboyant costumes at Macklin Lake on Saturday, April 15. Thirty jumpers took part in efforts to raise cash for cystic fibrosis research. According to Cystic Fibrosis Canada, the illness is the most common fatal genetic disease affecting Canadian children and young adults which mainly affects the digestive system and lungs. Pictured from left: Dylan Chopek, Zach Oatway, Orry Goulet, Denver Chopek and Chris Bur. Bur told The News afterwards that Provost was the only team on the Alberta side and raised $7,400 for the ‘battle on the border’ contest—this would see which district of Kin Canada would raise the most money—Saskatchewan or Alberta. The ‘Take Your Breath Away for Cystic Fibrosis’ event was organized by the Macklin Kinette Club who also celebrated 50 years of activity that night.
