Geese float on Killarney Lake as they rest up before winging further south. This lake—with 10 kilometres of shoreline, near Leane Lake and Dilberry Lake close to the provincial border offers refuge to an endangered species of migrating shorebirds. These three lakes comprise part of the Dilberry Lake Provincial Park system. Provost is about 26 kilometres to the southwest while Macklin, Sask. is a similar distance to the south and Chauvin is near to the northwest. The lakes are also home to 21 species of mammals such as white-tailed jackrabbit and long-tailed weasel. The nationally vulnerable northern leopard frog used to be found in the area. ©Provost News Photo.
