Going to Market

Cattle are let through a gate into the sale ring at Provost Livestock Exchange while Jerry Hewson marks off a sheet during the regular sale Friday morning, May 8. Casey Lawes (not shown) auctions the animals off while people in the stands make bids. Six-hundred feeder cattle and 50 cows and bulls were sold that morning. Dean Lawes for Provost Livestock Exchange told The News that “There’s lots of beef. If the packing plants can kill it and put it on the counter, we’ll have no problem.” ©Provost News Photo.
