Many Seats Empty at School
Due to Cold Weather
|
Provost Public School’s Grade 4 class was almost halved on January 15 after school buses were cancelled due to cold weather. Twelve students (two not pictured) out of the regular 23 are shown while working on math instructed by Laureen Clark-Rennie (seated at back, centre). The class was asked if any of the students that normally take the bus were brought in by parents—five of them raised their hands; so it would have been reduced to a seven student classroom had they not shown up. Clark-Rennie told The News that the day before was “very similar” when she had 11 students attend and three bus students were driven in. Classes have continued as normal, she says, however some students have come and gone during the day depending on parents’ schedules. For recess, indoor activities on the smart board included workouts, dance and meditation. ©Provost News Photo.
