Taking Precautionary Measures
|
Town of Provost playgrounds are now roped off, closing access to the public as of Wednesday, March 25 in the town’s continued response to the COVID-19 outbreak. Rec director Jack McKinlay told The News that the closing of playgrounds was not provincially mandated—it was the town’s decision. “We are following many of the other communities in the province as they have also shut down access to playgrounds.” It’s strictly a safety factor and one less possible way of spreading the virus, he says. While recreation facilities remain closed, recreation staff have been sanitizing Crescent Point Place arena and are painting areas in the lobby, dressing rooms and hallways. McKinlay adds that once the snow is gone and the weather warms up, they will work on outside facilities. He says he appreciates the community for staying away from Crescent Point Place while it’s closed. “It has given us a great opportunity to get things done without having to wipe everything down all the time if the public had access.” ©Provost News Photo.
