Annual Barbecue and Sports Weekend Held at Shorncliffe Park
Submitted by Carol Penman
From July 17 to 19 the Shorncliffe Park Improvement Association hosted their annual barbecue and sports weekend.
Men’s baseball, always a favorite, featured teams from Lougheed, Sedgewick, Cadogan, Provost, Heisler and Cold Lake. The tournament was won by the Cadogan Nite Hawks.
Women’s softball was a round robin event with teams Alberta Crude from Sherwood Park, Wainwright Gunners, Provost Midgets and The Silver Bullets (a local team gearing up to participate in a master’s event in Australia this fall). The Provost Midget team won all three of their games.
Co-ed slowpitch, as usual provides lots of activity and entertained teams and fans from Provost, Wainwright and the local area.
Family slowpitch was another round robin event with teams Motley, Almberg and Tullock.
Playground activities included face painting by Shelly Verbonnac while a bubble pool was also available.
