This hummingbird has its wings resting in standby mode onlynot flapping as is usually the case when the tiny helicopter-like animals take on food. Stopping at other flowers though, it did hoverits wings a blurbeating anywhere from 50 to 80 times per second. The young visitor sticks out its tongue to lap up nectar by extending and contracting it a dozen times per second. Swimmers Earn Medals at Provincial Meet
Several swimmers from Provost attended the Alberta Summer Swimming Association Provincial Championships held in Calgary on August 18 and 19.
Swimming for the Piranhas Swim Club were: Kristen Pylypow: girls 8 and under 25m freestyle 5th, 25m butterfly 9th, 50m freestyle 10th, 100m individual medley (IM) 12th.
MacKenzie Bouma: boys 8 and under 25m breaststroke 10th, 25m butterfly - 11th, 25m freestyle 15th.
Kolby Johnston: boys 8 and under 100m IM silver medal, 25m freestyle bronze medal, 50m freestyle 4th.
Kylee Brad: Girls 9 and 10 25m butterfly 16th.
Kaylee Pylypow: Girls 9 and 10 100m freestyle 16th.
Devon Johnston: Boys 9 and 10 50m breaststroke 16th.
Brittany Bouma: Girls 13 and 14 50m freestyle silver medal, 50m butterfly 4th, 100m freestyle 8th, 200m IM 10th.

Relays: girls 9 and 10 100m medley relay Kylee Brad, Kaitlyn Knox, Shaylyn Beier, Kaylee Pylypow 12th.
Girls 13 and 14 200m medley relay Adrienne Larsen, Jaimee Brad, Brittany Bouma, Amanda Olfert 16th.
Girls 9 and 10 100m free relay Kylee Brad, Shaylyn Beier, Kaitlyn Knox, Kaylee Pylypow 13th.
Four swimmers also were asked to swim on the regional relay teams: Kristen Pylypow swam with the girls 8 and under 100m free relay team which placed 4th.
MacKenzie Bouma and Kolby Johnston swam with the boys 8 and under 100m medley relay and the boys 8 and under 100m free relay, both teams placed 4th.
Brittany Bouma swam with the girls 13 and 14 200m medley relay, and the girls 13 and 14 200m free relay, with both teams placing 4th.

Classes for Sask. Students Begin Next Week; Provost Later
School students at Macklin, Sask. will be heading back to class next weekTuesday, August 28 while their counterparts across the border in Alberta will stretch out their summer holidays another week before returning on Tuesday, September 4.
