‘Out of Box Thinking’ Encouraged to Combat Low Enrollment
Parents with children in school and others from the Amisk, Hughenden and Czar communities met on March 1 in the Czar gym to discuss declining enrollment.

Low student populations at schools in Amisk and Czar triggered the Wednesday night meeting.

“This is not a school closure meeting” Buffalo Trail Public Schools superintendent Greg Bass said when he addressed between 175 and 200 people at 7 p.m.

School trustee Dave Nelson said that the board came up with some ideas that might be tried, but “we need the community behind the school (with ideas) or it just won’t work.”
