A one-man, two day art show was staged at the Legion Hall in Provost on Saturday and Sunday with people looking over the talents of Marianne Morrell (third from left) who explains this exhibition of money at 10 times its original size. She plans to apply to take this show to other galleries which is comprised of over 50 works of art, not counting the upstairs exhibits. Goodbrand, Pilgaard, Set School Division Track Records
Students from Provost Public School improved their track meet record by capturing second place overall at a regional Buffalo Trail Public Schools competition held in Vermilion recently.
First at last Wednesday’s Junior High School event was J. R. Robson, Vermilion.
Two records were set by Provost students.
Kaitlyn Goodbrand set the regional record in 80 metre hurdles with a time of 13.26 seconds while Jenelle Pilgaard set a new record in intermediate girls’ shot put with a throw of 9.54 metres.
Goodbrand also claimed the gold medal as top athlete overall at the competition. She earned 38 out of 40 points in the Jr. girls category.
Also in the Jr. girls’ division was Raelene Gette who earned a silver medalwhile in intermediate boys Jeffrey Cazes earned silver.
PPS sent 47 athletes first to Wainwright and of those, 42 qualified to compete in the championships in Vermilion.
Vermilion school had a total of 533 points and PPS, 356.5 while Kitscoty was third at 265 points.
Teacher Brad Pylypow said that he was pleased with his group of students that also received coaching help from teacher Peter Mentz and custodian Loretta Heintz who helped with the javelin event.
