Looking for House, Man Wins $300,000 Dream Home
Ben Meier who spends much of his time between Provost and Red Deer dealing in houses was without a permanent residence when he found out he won a Red Deer Kinsmen lottery on New Years eve. His name was drawn for a house valued at over $300,000.
Meier told The News that when he was in Provost on January 2 that I couldnt believe it and that the win took a while to sink in.
He had sold the last house he was living in three months ago and moved temporarily from a five bedroom house at the time to the current two bedroom apartment he is in now.
He still has rental properties in Provost so is back here at least every month.
Meier bought one ticket while there were 5,400 sold, raising $150,000 for the service club.
His fiance, Jackie Molyneux meanwhile had purchased four tickets.
Meier, 47 said that he will probably keep the home especially since his fiance fell in love with the large ensuite bathroom including a jaccuzi bathtub. They will move in on February 1.
The home comes with appliances, window coverings and a home theatre.
The home was the Red Deer Kinsmens 21st home that was raffled off.
The local man also was the winner of $1,000 from a recent Provost Museum Society draw.
