Burglars Defeat Alarm, Steal Jewelry During Night
Operator of Julare Gifts and Jewelry on Main Street, Larry Komaransky had initially experienced rage but is now just disappointed and depressed that someone would break into the store that he and his wife Rae operate in Provost.
Tens of thousands of dollars of jewelry was stolen after burglars defeated an alarm system.
Larry Komaransky told The News (situated next door) that phone lines were cut at the back of his building and a separate burglar alarm that uses a key was somehow disabled.
Part of the front door lock was found lying on the sidewalk when Komaransky went to work on Friday, January 17 at 8:30 a.m.
A variety of merchandise was stolen including gold chains, bracelets, diamond earrings, pendants and two shelves of fancy crystal.
RCMP say they are interested in break and enters also taking place in Macklin and Luseland the week before and constable Susan Duggan says there is a good chance they are connected.
