Town to Study Economic Goals at Planning Session
50th Anniversary; Official Opening of New Town Office This Summer The Town of Provost is planning to hold an economic development strategy planning session in Provost. All town councillors, the mayor and some invited guests from Provost took part in an Economic Development Strategic Planning Session on March 8 and 9 in Medicine Hat. The delegates met for a Friday evening session and a full day on Saturday to discuss the present economic development situation in Provost and to establish goals and timelines. After that session, council decided as a first step there will be a meeting to which the council of the M. D. of Provost, all members of the Provost and District Chamber of Commerce and the delegates to the planning session will be invited to review the goals developed with a view to establishing a plan for economic development in Provost and area. This meeting is scheduled for March 27 (tonight). Plans are also being made to officially open the new administration building and mark the 50th anniversary since the Town of Provost was incorporated. Those functions will be held in July. Council appointed councillors Betty Varty and Dwayne Chopek to head a committee to organize a function to celebrate the opening of the new town office and the anniversary of the Town of Provost.
