Girl Takes 3rd at National Tae Kwon Do Event
Back from Korean Training
“I was so excited” 15 year old Renee Adams of Provost says after earning a bronze placing in junior national tae kwon do competitions held at Toronto.

She and her 20 year old sister Radean first went for two weeks to put finishing touches on training in Korea—and it paid off.

Renee sparred in a national tournament in Ontario recently, winning the first two out of three matches. She flew to Toronto with a friend to take in the three day event.

“I just like fighting and being aggressive and hurting people” Adams told The News in an interview.

She has been in the sport—that she describes somewhere between judo and karate—for almost 10 years.

Her brother encouraged Adams in the sport beginning in Grade 1 and she now holds a black belt.

23 Acres for New Motocross Site
A local group called the Hillside MX Association is renting 23 acres from Lloyd Smith who lives north and west of Provost to use for their motocross events.
Secretary-treasurer of the association, Laurie Burwash told The News that they hope to hold a sanctioned race there but it would not be this season.

“It depends of what we have for volunteers” if the event is to go ahead she says. Such an event could draw 400 to 500 entries with some riders in more than one category.

The new track has had some work done on it and has had riders on it. But some of the work left to finish includes fencing the area that is located nine miles from town. Burwash adds that Roger Large of Provost has already done a lot of work at the new riding area.

The mile-long track takes approximately three minutes to get around on the motorbikes.

Those using the grounds will have to sign a waiver whether they are a rider or a spectator.

The Hillside MX Association —formerly known as Trackside is in the process of forming a society and presently has 12 to 15 members.

Tentative plans are being made to have some riders from Lloydminster, Saskatoon, Edmonton and maybe Cranbrook, B.C. take in a ride soon at the new grounds as part of a fun day held there.

More riders can join the local organization.
