Another tournament, another A Final, another win.
We played two league games, two exhibition and we won all four.
Before the tournament in Sedgewick we played a league game Tuesday in Chauvin, against Chauvin/Edgerton for the third time this year. We received a win against them for the third time this year winning 8-5.
Stempfle scored an early goal to take a quick lead, but they scored just minutes later to tie it up.
McMann took care of that and scored his first of three less than 20 seconds later. They never came back again.
We scored 30 seconds later, then again with just over a minute left in the first period to take a commanding 4-1 lead.
In the second we scored four more and two players completed their hat tricks, Cam Stempfle and Dustin McMann. Landmark and Watchal had the other two goals.
Chauvin/Edgerton only put two behind our goalie Stahl in that period. Going into the third it was 8-3 for the Provost Pee Wees.
We wanted to run the score up really high, but we didn’t get a goal that whole period. But Chauvin/Edgerton did, they got two more but that was all for them.
Ringrose got “The Big Boot” with less than 10 minutes left in the game so he didn’t play later in the first game in Sedgewick.
Final score: 8-5 for the Provost Pee Wees.
Provost scoring:
First Period-
Stempfle (Watchal); McMann (Klein); McMann (Klein); Watchal (McMann).
Second Period-

Third Period-
No Scoring.
Game No. 1
Our next game was the following weekend in Sedgewick. Not only was it part of a tournament it was a league game.
McMann and Ringrose did not play this game so we to put Adams up front to fill his position. He did it perfectly, scoring four goals and assisting on one as we squeezed by Sedgewick 6-5 with a late third period goal by Holmes.
At first it looked as if this wouldn’t be hard at all. We were leading three to nothing when they scored their first goal of the game with five minutes left in the first, then again with nine seconds left to bring them within one.
Both teams scored in the second, Adams got his third of four goals.
The third was a lot harder when they took the lead with ten minutes remaining in the game.
Holmes passed out from behind the net to Adams. Adams wound up, shot, and the goalie got a piece of it but just not enough. It trickled in with just under seven minutes to play.
A minute later Brian Stahl who has been brilliant in net called Holmes over to give him a little pep talk. He still thought we could do it, and this is what he said, “Holmsee, we need a goal, so you guys go and get one, right now.”
The face-off was in our end to the left of Stahl. Off the face of Stempfle tipped the puck up to “Holmsee” and he went wide down the ice, slid it beside the goalie into the net for the late goal. Stahl still had faith in us.
We went on to win the game because of Adams, Stahl, and Stahl’s pretty straight forward pep talk.
Provost scoring:
First Period-
Adams (unassisted); Adams (Klein, Ganser); Landmark (Adams, Ganser).
Second Period-
Adams (Landmark).
Third Period-
Adams (Holmes); Holmes (Stempfle).
Game No. 2
We have played this team before and beat them 8-4, they’re the Hardisty/Hughenden team.
We won to advance to the A Finals. We doubled them, just like last time except we both must have played better defense because the final score was 4-2 for Provost.
We also cut down on the penalties, this game we only had six and they only had four, one of theirs we scored on.
We went into the third with a fairly comfortable lead, three to one, but they scared us when they scored two minutes into the final frame.
But that was all for both teams. The final score was 4-2 for the Provost Pee Wees against the Hardisty/Hughenden hockey club.
Provost scoring:
First Period-
Watchal (unassisted).
Second Period-
Holmes (Klein); Klein (Adams, Landmark); Ganser (unassisted).
Game No. 3 A Final
It was our fifth A Final game of the season and we looked half asleep in the first against Hanna, when they scored 14 seconds into the game on a two on one.
They scored again with a little over two minutes left in the first.
In the second we put on some major pressure, Landmark put us in the right direction when we made some pretty passes inside their zone on the powerplay. He took a pass from Watchal, his shot hit a Hanna player and went in the net for our first goal of the game.
McMann was back for this game, and did we need him, as he scored a pair.
McMann scored his first four minutes after Landmark did. Holmes then gave Provost the 3-2 lead with a wrist shot at the hash-marks, with a minute and a half to go in the second period.
In the third, McMann finished them off with a goal midway through the period to make it 4-2 for Provost.
Goalie Stahl saved the game for us a few times diving across, making glove saves on which looked to be sure goals. He was perfect for the last two periods, and not too bad in the first either.
Provost scoring:
First period-
No Scoring.
Second Period-
Landmark (Watchal, Adams); McMann (Ganser, Landmark); Holmes (Martin).
Third Period-
McMann (Adams, Watchal).
We have three upcoming league games in Provost, one on Thursday, one Friday and another on Sunday.
