Three league games, all at home, two wins and one loss.
The first game was on Thursday the 16 against Chauvin/Edgerton.
We only played one good period out of the three, it was the first period. Even though we lost the first 3-1 it was the best period of the game we played, and it wasn’t that good.
We went into this game thinking that it would be an easy two points, but we sat back and let them beat us 8-4. But we still have beat them two times out of three so far this year, scores of the other games were 6-2 and 8-5.
We started out pretty good when McMann scored two minutes into the game. But then by the nine minute mark they had the lead and we couldn’t catch up.
Chauvin/Edgerton scored four in the second period while we scored only one. It was 7-2 going into the third.
In the final period we turned it on scoring two before the period was half old. It looked like we might have a chance.
But there was too little time to catch up. They scored one before the game was over to leave it at an 8-4 game.
I’d like to thank all the fans for coming out and supporting us, and sorry for not providing much entertainment.
I would have to say that Dustin McMann is the player of the game for Provost with three goals.
Provost scoring:
First Period- McMann (Holmes).
Second Period-
McMann (Stempfle, Holmes).
Third Period- Adams (Stempfle); McMann (Rehman).
Final Score: 8-4 for Chauvin/Edgerton.
Our second game was played the very next day in Provost against Lloydminster Imperial 400.
This game was to be played for three points to save travelling for both teams.
We didn’t want to disappoint the home crowd for the second time in a row, so we didn’t.
In the first however, they did manage to take a two goal lead on us.
Ringrose got back into his scoring touch to put us on the board. Then Adams put one away 14 minutes later, but during that time span they managed to get one more.
Just before we were ready to go to intermission, McMann tied it up with 50 seconds left to go in the second.
It was all Imperial 400 could manage to get but McMann wasn’t finished.
In the third period McMann had two more goals to complete the hat trick, an assist, the game winning goal, and two penalties.
The assist was a beauty, passing it over to Martin on a two on one. Martin was tied up but managed to get his stick on the puck for the deflection, and in it went for the last goal of the game.
McMann and Klein were the stars of this game.
Provost scoring:
First Period-
No Scoring.
Second Period-
Ringrose (Stempfle, Holmes); Adams (Klein); McMann (Klein, Adams).
Third Period-
McMann (Ganser); McMann (Stempfle); Martin (McMann).
Final Score: 6-3 for Provost.
We hosted our next game on Sunday against Sedgewick thinking that this would be a extremely hard game, the opposite of the Chauvin/Edgerton game, and it turned out almost the opposite. We won 8-3 and one of their goals was a fluke at the end of the third.
At the end of the first it was tied at one. Our goal was scored by Adams on a slapshot from the blueline.
Coaches Doug Stuckky and Jim Ganser gave us a little pep talk in the first intermission and we wanted to put a smile on their faces. So we did it as quick as possible, scoring four in the first four minutes and six in the entire second period. Most of our goals were tip-ins or one timers.
And Stahl was fantastic in net saving 10 quality shots to keep them at one goal.
It was seven to one and it was looking good, we wanted to run the score up even higher but we just got one goal by Stempfle midway through the third.
Before the third I thought about how many penalties we weren’t getting and was thinking about mentioning that until the third period. Before the third Provost had just four penalties— by the end of the third we totalled up for 11, back up to Pee Wee standards.
Stahl made a few unbelievable saves in the third when the Sedgewick player had 80 percent of the net to shoot at and Stahl dove across the net and batted the puck away with his blocker. I would have to call him the player of the game.
Provost scoring:
First Period-
Adams (Angeltvedt, Rehman).
Second Period-
McMann (Adams); Watchal (Stempfle, Angeltvedt); Ganser (unassisted); McMann (Klein, Adams); Holmes (Ringrose, Adams); Ganser (Klein, Landmark).
Third Period-
Stempfle (Holmes, Angeltvedt).
Our next scheduled game is this Thursday in Kitscoty, against Kitscoty.
