Sunday, December 21.
Already our fourth game against Vermilion and we were winning 25-16 in this mini-series of ours, with a few players missing (but still the same number as us) from the Vermilion team we decided to take advantage of the game.
As you can see from the score above we did pretty good, but I really do think it could have been a bit better, not that I don’t like winning by 16, but it could have easily been 25-2.
Stahl was aiming for his first shutout of the season, but lost it in the third period on a shot from the hash marks. Not only did we lose the shutout, but I lost a dollar.
I am writing this a week later so I can’t even remember any of the goals, but looking at the score sheet I see that Glencross had twelve points, all six goals coming in the last half of the game; Benoit had nine points, four goals and five assists; Stempfle and Ganser each had two goals and two assists. Ganser has been catching fire of late. And Adams got the game winner only five minutes into the first.
The second period was the most powerful period for us, we scored on nine occasions and had 30 shots, total shots were 55-24.
Provost scoreboard:
First Period- Benoit (Glencross); Stempfle (Benoit, Glencross); Adams (unassisted); Benoit (unassisted); Moncrieff (Glencross).
Second Period- Carroll (Holmes, Benoit); Benoit (Stempfle); Adams (Glencross, Stempfle); Benoit (Carroll, Glencross); Glencross (Benoit, Moncrieff); Stempfle (unassisted); Glencross (Ganser); Ganser (Holmes); Ganser (Paulgaard, Glencross).
Third Period- Glencross (Moncrieff); Glencross (unassisted); Glencross (Benoit, Ganser); Glencross (Benoit).

The next three games were all part of round robin play at the Vermilion Tier 1 Tournament. Due to lack of time I will be brief.
For the next two games we had called up Klein and Bishop to give us a hand.
We played very good I thought for the first few minutes but were unable to get many shots away on their net.
We were down two to none with just a few minutes left in the period when Paulgaard tipped the puck over the goalie into the top shelf off of Adams’ shot from the point.
The second period was where both teams found their scoring touch. Total goals for this period was eight, but we only had three of those.
In the third Ganser put in his tenth of the year from the side of the net banking it off the goalie.
Glencross netted his fourth goal of the game to finish off the scoring.
Stahl came through with some excellent saves in this game, actually I think he had a great weekend despite all the goals scored.
Provost scoring:
First Period-
Paulgaard (Adams, Holmes).
Second Period-
Benoit (Moncrieff, Glencross); Glencross (unassisted); Glencross (Ganser).
Third Period-
Glencross (Moncrieff); Ganser (Benoit); Glencross (Moncrieff, Stempfle).
Just over an hour break from the last game we were about to play Kitscoty, a team we had never played yet this year.
After one period of play we had yet to score a goal. Five minutes into the second and down two to none.
We sent out the small line consisting of Ganser, Bishop and Klein. This combination worked very well for us in the game before.
The three forwards scored on their very first shift hoping to spark us.
Provost scored twice more but still went off the ice down five goals to three goals.
Holmes scored his second of the game and Benoit scored his 52nd of the season to round off the scoring.
Provost scoring:
First Period- No scoring.
Second Period- Klein (Ganser, Bishop); Glencross (Stempfle, Benoit); Holmes (unassisted).
Third Period-
Holmes (Landmark); Benoit (Stempfle).
Our second meeting in tournament play turned out to be a little better. I thought this was a great game.
Provost went quickly to work. Benoit scored his first of two, then Holmes scored his 200th career goal off his own rebound, and Glencross added his first of four and by the time the period was over, we were ahead 4-1.
The second frame ended with one goal each, ours coming from Sorby on a nice shot from just above the hash marks.
In the third the first line of Benoit, Glencross and Stempfle combined for nine points on four goals just in the third period.
I was satisfied with this tournament except for a few periods, our defense made few faults, our forwards provided the goals and our goaltending was excellent.
Provost scoring:
First Period-
Benoit (Glencross); Holmes (Paulgaard, Ganser); Glencross (Stempfle, Paulgaard); Benoit (unassisted).
Second Period-
Sorby (Glencross, Ganser).
Third Period-
Glencross (Moncrieff); Glencross (Benoit, Sorby); Stempfle (Glencross, Benoit); Glencross (Benoit, Stempfle).
