Things were looking good for the first 15 minutes of the game when we were up three to one. But those fifteen minutes were the best time of the game, and things didn’t get any better.
It was against Daysland/Forestburg and it was another Zone playoff series for the PeeWees hockey club.
We started off by getting the first goal of the series just minutes into the game when Ringrose shot a low one in from close range.
But Daysland/Forestburg came right back 30 seconds later and tied it up.
About four minutes later McMann teed the puck up at the faceoff dot and put it in the low corner to give us back the lead.
Later on in the game Holmes blocked a shot and raced down all alone to shoot it in the other bottom corner. It felt good to be ahead by more than one goal.
But it didn’t last for long, because with 1:59 to play in the first Daysland/Forestburg scored to bring them within one. And then a minute later scored again to even it up at three.
The next period was not fun at all. Daysland/Forestburg scored three more in the remaining ten minutes and they all could’ve been prevented.
We didn’t want to replace Stahl with Gregory because few goals were his fault. The defense and forwards were being very sloppy in our own end with the puck which ended up in giveaways, which eventually ended up in goals.
We were determined to get those goals back and win the game but things didn’t look that good when Daysland/Forestburg scored 13 seconds in. They had two more in the period to make it a 9-3 game.
But Ganser made it look a little better when he scored with five minutes left in the game.
Final score- 9-4 for Daysland/Forestburg.
Provost scoring:
First Period- Ringrose (Angeltvedt, Ganser); McMann (Ringrose); Holmes (unassisted).
Second Period- No scoring.
Third Period-
Ganser (Klein).
We are scheduled to host the Daysland/Forestburg team this Saturday afternoon in the final total point series to determine who advances to provincial finals in northern Alberta.
Let’s not give up on this series, guys!
