Same score as last weekend, just switch the opponent to Castor.
Saturday, the Provost Bantams travelled to Castor to finish up their season series. Provost had won the first by a fair margin.
It was looking pretty wide open when both teams scored just minutes into the game.
After half a period we woke up and turned on the offense.
Our defensemen, Sorby and Carroll had a great game, each scored once in the first period.
By the end of just the first period the scored was 5-2 in Provost’s favor.
Holmes missed on two breakaways and missed the net on three other shots in that period. But he finally, scored on his sixth shot on net.
Adams, who also had a great game offensive wise. He scored twice in the game.
The line of Benoit, Glencross, and Stempfle got a total of ten points in the second period.
Stahl was still back there, stopping whatever he could, whenever he got a shot, which was not that often.
Benoit scored on a good play which had the Castor goalie out of position.
Adams then scored a smart goal late in the third when he shot from just inside the blueline on a rush. The goalie almost had to jump to save the shot, but then he dropped and Adams hit the puck into the empty net.
Stempfle then put one in with just a couple minutes remaining, his second of two goals, assisted by Adams.
I thought the reffing was pretty good, not a lot to complain about although we did get 32 minutes in penalties, including Buster’s 10 minutes.
Landmark was steady on defense as usual, and he had to be with Moncrieff sitting out game two of his three game suspension.
We have just one league game left against the better Macklin team which we have not beaten yet. One loss and one tie. Moncrieff will miss that game too which goes today (Wednesday) later this evening.
Provost scoreboard:
First Period- Glencross (Stempfle, Benoit); Sorby (Ganser); Carroll (Stempfle); Benoit (Stempfle, Glencross); Glencross (unassisted).
Second Period- Holmes (unassisted); Adams (Glencross); Glencross (Benoit); Glencross (Benoit); Benoit (unassisted); Benoit (Glencross, Stempfle); Stempfle (Glencross, Benoit).
Third Period- Benoit (Ganser, Glencross); Adams (Stempfle); Stempfle (Adams).
Provost 14, Castor 3.
