Last Sunday things just seemed to be going right for us against one of the Macklin teams.
In two recent meetings against this team we had won both by a pretty good margin.
It was very humid in the arena that day but despite the warmth we managed to have a strong first period.
Paulgaard and Holmes each scored early in the game and Landmark who was wearing the captain’s C got the puck to trickle into the net from a point shot.
Landmark then scored his second of the game with, what I heard, a shot from just outside the blueline. The Macklin goalie got most of the puck but not enough, it barely made it into the net. This coming with thirteen seconds left in the first period. 4-0 Provost.
Stempfle quickly scored from in the slot to show that we weren’t done yet.
We ended up scoring four goals in the second and Macklin only scored three.
Their first two goals came off of rebounds. Stahl made at least two saves on each of them then Macklin had the open net when Stahl was recovering.
On their third goal it was identical to Landmark’s. Stahl got a bit of it with his glove and it just trickled across the line.
Glencross lead the way in the third with four goals and Ganser and Benoit each scored one.
All six of the goals were from redirections or on two-on-one passes. Anyway they were all from just outside the crease.
It was getting a little rough out there late in the third period. Benoit was the target for flying fists, and he didn’t do anything to deserve it, but defended himself nicely without getting a penalty.
