The News earned second place in the “multi-photo” category for an entry named “Bringing in the Sheaves.” The two page colour spread pictures ran in the August 30, 2006 edition.

The awards for the annual Alberta Weekly Newspapers Association’s photographic competition were sponsored by ATCO Gas and ATCO Electric with judging done by SAIT in Calgary.

There are 113 member AWNA newspapers across Alberta and the NWT.
