No Injures as Railway Cars Jump Tracks
Three Canadian Pacific Railway cars were de-railed beside Cadogan last Wednesday at 12:40 p.m. with no injuries reported. An engine travelling under 25 miles per hour was pulling 141 cars east at the time. Part of the train still on the track can be seen top right, while one of three cars that skiddedbut did not topple over can be seen at top left. Brothers Elected to Same Newspaper Board
Roger W. Holmes of the Wainwright Star Chronicle and Richard C. Holmes of The Provost News have both been elected to serve on the board of the Alberta Weekly Newspapers Association.
Roger Holmes, a former Provost resident was elected president of the 110 member association in Edmonton on Saturday, September 20.
News editor Rich Holmes is a past president of AWNA and was named to represent the board on the national levelserving on the Canadian Community Newspapers Association (CCNA).
Re- elected to the CCNA board from Alberta were Coleen Campbell of Taber and president Joyce Webster of Coronation.
Formed in 1906, AWNA is a leader among provincial associations across the nation.
The Wainwright Star Chronicle, owned by Holmes Publishing Co. Ltd. prints The Provost News and 34 other publications every week including five newspapers in Saskatchewan, two in the Northwest Territories and may soon add a second B.C. publication. It also prints a few publications every two weeks and four monthly titles for other entrepreneurs.
